The Challenge
Our client, a Police Force, wanted to ensure maximum user acceptance and the effective exploitation of new technologies. However, several new
technologies were about to be introduced over a similar period, and there was the potential for both inefficient collation of user improvement ideas,
and poor user support. How could they ensure that the operational team were effectively supported during the change?
The scope of the change was enormous including a new call handling system for the 999 service, new processes to dispatch police resources, new
satellite navigation and location systems, new radio systems, new resource planning systems, and new mapping systems for police intelligence.
The Solution
Alpha Zero consultants worked with the user teams within the Force to prepare a detailed business case for change. This included: a new strategy,
detailed operational roadmap and strategic plan for implementation.
The operational roadmap included organisational structure, roles and competencies. Comprehensive implementation and change strategy was developed,
considering the effective management for the needs of all stakeholders. Budget constraints were met.
The new operation was designed to ensure that users’ needs were efficiently collated, scoped, prioritised and managed through the integrated supplier
network. New user support communities were created, existing processes were optimised and aligned, and new services were defined. Alpha Zero assisted
in a fantastically challenging change programme within the Force and contributed to bringing it to a successful conclusion.
Extensive change management was involved to achieve this success. Alpha Zero developed a detailed blue-print for new user communities for
multi-technologies. New processes and operating procedures were designed. Alpha Zero also took the lead in communicating the changes to staff, and
developing and executing the implementation plan.
