The Challenge
Our client is a complex organisation with many departments involved with various policing issues. In addition to individual police forces,
other related bodies also have responsibility for developing policing services. There was no standard approach to knowledge management, with each
department having its own knowledge processes. This resulted in a diffused approach to knowledge management.
This provided an opportunity for all departments to co-ordinate resources to ensure that research and good practices were shared more effectively.
The Solution
Alpha Zero Limited was engaged to assist with the design and implementation of the change in knowledge management process. Alpha Zero consultants
undertook a current state analysis to evaluate the situation, which enabled the project team to make recommendations for moving forward, including
quick win opportunities.
Working closely with our client, Alpha Zero contributed to the development of an integrated approach appropriate to the management of knowledge for all
the interested parties. The approach was piloted with key stakeholders. The results of the pilot were used to report back to steering group. Assistance
was provided to design the plan and approach to implement the new knowledge management process.
The results of the pilot enabled the joint project team to determine the focus for further work. Data analysis was conducted to clarify the potential
benefits of a more co-ordinated approach to the initiation of new project areas.
Benefits
- Shared appreciation of the benefits of increased collaboration.
- Buy-in to a joined up process for the capture and roll out of good practice.
- Identification of a methodology to proactively ensure that new projects are effectively co-ordinated to maximise return on investment.
